Outdoor café for the Building Roots food hub at Moss Park, Toronto.. Communication Studio, Ryerson University

The objective of the project is to design a small serving building for an outdoor café for the Building Roots food hub at Moss Park, Toronto.

The building will serve customers through a window/counter and a small workspace inside. It should have a floor area of a maximum of 7.5 square meters and a maximum height of 2.75 meters.

An important part of this project was defining the area, efficiency was a key part of planning this project. After defining the circular area, it was found that this shape would allow more counter space and more window  increasing the interaction with the users coming to the Roots Cafe, it was also determined that a circular building could enclose the required area using 30% less exterior envelope than rectilinear shapes would need.
